Singapore is a city you sort out almost entirely yourself: the MRT gets you everywhere, every sign is in English and a lot of the best stuff costs nothing, from the Supertrees to the light shows on the bay. So what you book here is mostly tickets. A guided tour only earns its money where it adds something you would miss on your own: the stories behind the hawker stalls and the old neighbourhoods, and exactly what to order there.
Singapore
Nine things to book, and you only need a few. On your first day, do one of the three guided tours, all four hours: the Singapore Stories food tour (more than twelve tastings, eight guests max), the walking tour through Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam, or the bike tour that adds Marina Bay and the river. They mostly cover the same neighbourhoods, so pick one. We pick the food tour. At Gardens by the Bay you only pay for the domes: the Supertrees and Garden Rhapsody are free, and so is Spectra, so on the evening river cruise you are mainly paying for the boat and the transport. The Night Safari with transfer is handy if your hostel is on the pickup list. The zoo, the cable car and Universal Studios are straightforward day tickets.
