Our story
How we ended up here
Rebels on the Road started from the thing we love most: travelling Asia. We are Remco and Anouk, and since February 2023 we have been travelling, working and living here together.
Our trip began the way most backpackers’ trips do. We met on the road, stayed longer than planned, and before we knew it we had built a life in Thailand. We live on Koh Tao, both of us work there as dive instructors, and we still spend every spare week finding more of Asia, from the places everyone has heard of to the ones where you barely meet another traveller.
In those years we have met hundreds, maybe thousands of backpackers. Brilliant people, all of them. But we kept seeing the same thing happen.
Plenty of them were already travelling and had no real idea where to start when they planned the trip. And once they were out here it slid into go with the flow, which is a huge part of backpacking and honestly the best part of it. Except we also saw travellers being carried along by whoever they happened to meet, and not quite getting the trip they came for.
That can be different.
Which is exactly why we started Rebels on the Road.
We wanted one place where you can plan and book your trip through Asia from start to finish. From the prep, the visas, the vaccinations and the practical stuff, through to the beds, the buses and the days you will remember.
All in one place. Clear, sorted, and based on having actually been there.
